GAN, a B2B supplier of online gambling software solutions, made the announcement on Monday that it had secured a 10-year deal with US casino operator Wynn Resorts to enable the latter company's iGaming and digital sports betting debut in the state of Michigan.
The newly signed agreement stipulates that GAN will become Wynn's software supplier as the operator revs up preparations to enter Michigan's regulated online gaming and wagering industry. The specifics of the agreement were just just finalized.
Late in 2018, Michigan became the first state to authorize internet gambling in the style of casinos and sportsbooks. The first retail sportsbooks in the state opened their doors in March, but digital gambling services were still a long way off at the time because state gambling regulators had not yet crafted the regulatory framework under which such services would be provided in Michigan. The state's first retail sportsbooks opened their doors in March.
The launch of the first legally sanctioned gaming websites and mobile apps is currently planned for the month of November. GAN reported on Monday that Wynn had a good chance of being one of the first operators to offer online gambling in Michigan the following month, pending approval from the relevant regulatory authorities.
As a result of the current collaboration between GAN and the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, Wynn and GAN will have the opportunity to participate in the digital gambling market in the state. In March of 2020, GAN made the announcement that it will be forming an alliance with the tribe. Kewadin Casinos is the name of the tribe's five casinos that are located in the state of Michigan.
Wynn will have access to its partner GAN's US-optimized enterprise gaming and betting software, as well as GAN's get-to-market capacity and on-property incentive program integration capability, as a result of the contract that the two companies have struck. According to a statement released by GAN on Monday, these will allow Wynn to "be well-positioned as an early mover" in Michigan.
In addition, Wynn's online gambling operation in the state is anticipated to benefit from the operator's substantial database of customers residing in Michigan to cross-market to digital gaming and sports betting. This is because the database will allow Wynn to cross-market to its existing customers.
As part of the recently formed relationship, GAN will give Wynn access to the online casino games that it has developed in-house, in addition to providing content that was created by independent third-party developers and suppliers. In addition, GAN will deliver material for sports wagering from a third-party supplier, which will be supplemented by Betbull Limited, which is a strategic partner of Wynn.
Jeffrey B. Berman, the Chief Commercial Officer of GAN, made the following statement in response to their partnership with Wynn: "We look forward to powering the casino operator in Michigan and enabling it to efficiently invest their marketing capital to attract loyal sports betting and iGaming players." Wynn is a casino that operates in the state of Michigan.
Mr. Berman went on to say that they are extremely excited about the opportunities presented by potential future launches in multiple other states where iGaming and sports betting are legal or will become legal. He also stated that they are pleased to team up with Wynn as a major operator client with a national casino brand and massive patron base in the Michigan region.
